Privacy Policy

Effective October 29, 2026. This explains exactly what NH Dating stores, what it doesn't, who can see it, and how to delete it.

The short version
We store your Discord account details, your application answers and a few records needed to run the server. We never store your ID, your messages, your password or any payment details. We don't sell or share your data, don't show ads and don't use tracking. You can delete your application at any time.

1. Who we are

NH Dating ("we", "us") is a free, volunteer-run dating community for adults in New Hampshire. It is made up of this website (dating.nhdiscord.com) and a private Discord server with its bot. It is run from a privately owned server in New Hampshire. NH Dating is not a company and is not affiliated with Discord Inc.

This policy covers the website and the bot. Discord's own handling of your account and messages is covered by Discord's Privacy Policy, not this one.

2. Information from your Discord login

You log in with Discord. We ask Discord for two permissions: "identify", which gives us your user ID, username, display name and avatar, and "guilds.join", which lets the site add you to the NH Dating server if you are accepted.

Discord gives us a login token that we store so we can add you to the server later. It can't read your messages, see your email, see your other servers or post as you. We never see your Discord password.

3. Your application

When you apply we store every answer you give: your first name, date of birth, town, county, pronouns, gender, whether you are transgender, whether you identify as a femboy or tomgirl, who you are interested in, whether you want cis partners only, the age range you want, what you are looking for, whether you have or want kids, smoking, drinking and cannabis use, your interests, your "about you" text, what you want in a partner, and how you heard about us.

4. Sensitive information and your consent

Your gender identity, whether you are transgender, and your sexual orientation are sensitive information. We collect them only because the server places people in channels based on them, and only with the consent you give when you tick the box on the application. We use them for nothing else.

You can withdraw that consent at any time by deleting your application. That also ends your membership, because we can't place you in channels without it.

5. The ID check

After you're accepted, you show a photo ID in a private Discord channel that only you and the verification team can see. A person compares the photo and date of birth with you and your application.

We do not save, download, copy, screenshot or write down anything from your ID. As soon as the check is done, passed or failed, the bot deletes the whole channel, including your photo. The only things recorded are that you passed and the date. Images sent through Discord are handled by Discord while they exist and are deleted under Discord's own policies when the channel is deleted. We have no control over Discord's internal systems.

We ask you to cover your address, ID number and barcode before posting the photo. The check only confirms your age. It is not a background check.

6. Information the bot keeps

  • Which queued channels you have a seat in or are waiting for, and your place in line.
  • The time you last sent a message in a queued channel, so inactive seats can go to the next person. We record the time only, never what you wrote.
  • While your ID check is open, which channel it's in.
  • Match requests and matches: who asked whom, when, whether it was accepted, and the private channel if you chose one.

The bot does not log, save or read back the content of messages.

7. How your information is used

  • To review your application and decide whether to accept it.
  • To add you to the server, give you roles and place you in the right channels and queues.
  • To show your profile to people you have matched with.
  • To enforce the Rules and keep members safe.
  • To keep the men and women channels balanced and give inactive seats to the next person.

We don't use your information for advertising, profiling, marketing, selling, or training any AI system.

8. Who can see your information

  • Reviewers and staff can see your full application. When you apply, a summary (first name, age, town, county, gender, whether you are cis or trans, who you are interested in, and the channels you qualify for) is posted in a private staff channel in Discord.
  • Members you match with can see your profile: first name, age, town, county, pronouns, gender, whether you are cis or trans, femboy or tomgirl, who you are interested in, what you are looking for, your lifestyle answers and your written profile. They never see your date of birth or your age range preference.
  • Other members can see your Discord roles, which show your gender, whether you are trans (as a Trans (MTF) or Trans (FTM) role), femboy or tomgirl if you chose it, your age range (for example 25-34), your county, and which channel groups you are in. The channel group names say whether they are the cis or open version.
  • Staff can see private match channels so there is a record if something goes wrong.
  • Nobody else. We don't sell, rent or trade your information, and we don't share it with advertisers or data brokers.

We may disclose information if required by law, such as a valid court order, or when needed to protect someone from serious harm, including reporting suspected child exploitation.

9. Services we rely on

  • Discord, for login, the server, messages and images. Discord's Privacy Policy applies to what you do on Discord.
  • Cloudflare, which carries traffic to the website. It handles your IP address and browser details to deliver pages and block attacks, under Cloudflare's privacy policy.

We don't use Google Analytics, advertising networks, tracking pixels or any similar service.

10. Cookies and browser storage

  • A login cookie (nhd_session) that keeps you signed in for up to 30 days. It's a random value, and we only keep a scrambled (hashed) copy of it.
  • A short-lived cookie (nhd_oauth_state) that protects the Discord login and is deleted after you log in.
  • Your light or dark mode choice, saved in your browser.

That's all. There are no advertising or tracking cookies, so there is nothing to opt out of.

11. How long we keep it

  • Your application and profile: until you delete it, ask us to, or staff remove it.
  • Rejected applications may be kept so the same person isn't reviewed again and again. You can still ask us to delete yours.
  • Login sessions: up to 30 days, or until you log out.
  • Queue, seat and activity records: until you leave the server or lose your seat.
  • ID check photos: deleted as soon as the check is done.
  • Matches: until either person unmatches or deletes their application.

12. Your choices and rights

Whether or not a privacy law requires it of a small free community like ours, we give everyone these rights, including those under New Hampshire's consumer data privacy law:

  • See your data: your application is on this site, and staff can tell you what else is held about you.
  • Correct it: edit your application at any time. Some answers lock once you are accepted; staff can change them.
  • Delete it: use "Withdraw and delete" on the home page, or ask staff. This deletes your application and matches. Your Discord login record is kept only so the site recognizes you if you return, and staff can delete that too.
  • Get a copy: ask staff and we'll send your data in a readable format.
  • Withdraw consent for sensitive information by deleting your application.
  • Appeal: if we turn down a request, ask the server owner to look at it again.

We never sell personal data or use it for targeted advertising, so there is nothing to opt out of there. We answer requests within 45 days, usually much sooner.

13. Children

NH Dating is only for people 18 and older. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone younger. If we learn someone under 18 has applied or joined, we remove them and delete their information.

14. Security

Data is kept on a privately owned server that isn't open to the internet except through Cloudflare. Login cookies are hashed, staff pages are limited to admins, and the bot uses a secret key to talk to the site. No system is perfectly secure. If we ever learn of a breach that affects your information, we will tell affected members in Discord and on this site as quickly as we can.

15. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the effective date at the top changes too. For important changes you will be asked to agree again the next time you update your application. We will never start selling data or showing ads.

16. Contact

For any privacy question or request, message a member of the Staff role in the NH Dating Discord server, or the server owner. If you are not in the server, log in on this site and use "Withdraw and delete" to remove your application.
